KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Corporation Bhd (BCorp), via its subsidiary Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd, has entered into a distribution agreement with Mazda Motor Corporation Bhd for the distribution and retail business of Mazda in Malaysia.

In a statement on Feb 29, BCorp said BerMaz had signed a share sale agreement with Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd (CCB), which is the current distributor of Mazda motor vehicles, to acquire CCB’s entire stake in Hercules Automotive Engineers Sdn Bhd, the Mazda business operating company, for about RM16.8 million.

It said the securing of the rights to distribute Mazda motor vehicles in Malaysia would complement BCorp’s existing motor vehicles business.

BCorp was previously involved in the Hyundai motor vehicles distribution activities in Malaysia.

“We are pleased to be given by Mazda Motor Corporation the distributorship for the Mazda motor vehicles business in Malaysia. With this vote of confidence, we are committed to increasing the Mazda’s market share in Malaysia.” said BCorp chairman and chief executive officer Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
