Mazda 8 MPV 2.3L now officially available from Bermaz

The Mazda8 represents and entirely new design standard for MPVs. Bold, sophisticated styling and a luxurious air of fine quality and roomy comfort strike the ideal balance between stylish refinement, aggressive sportiness and practical spaciousness. Add to that the unmistakable face of the Mazda FamilyThe interior is quiet oasis of beautiful, spacious quality with a distinct air of refinement. Craftsmanship is evident everywhere in touches such as the sporty 3D blackout meters and the welcome lighting that gradually increases the blue toned meter graphics from the moment you open the door, reaching full illumination by the time you sit in the driver’s seat. The when you switch on the ignition, the red gauge needles light, heightening the anticipation of the drive.

Mazda8 brings you all the pleasure and confidence-inspiring handling you expect from Zoom-Zoom driving, along with the space and flexibility you require in an MPV. The high-tech MZR 2.3 DOHC  engine offers lively, linear power with outstandingly low emissions. There is ample power at high engine speeds and powerful torque in the low and mid ranges. Engine response is instant and linear to even the lightest touch on the accelerator pedal.

The 5-speed Activematic transmission delivers smooth and sporty shifting as well as a quieter high-speed cruising, while the carefully-tuned new suspension bushings to help minimize road noise and vibration. The sporty handling along with a smooth, comfortable ride. Roll centre height is set at the optimum, to enable this MPV to have a flat, firm ride and positive, predictable handling.

All-wheel ventilated disc brakes guarantee a linear, confidence-inspiring brake performance in all situations, while the system is tuned to giave a natural feel to the driver when pressing the brake pedal. Electronic brake force distribution (EBD) is also standard, and maintains Mazda8?s short stopping distances by varying brake force between the front and rear wheels according to the distribution of load and passengers.

Dual front airbags for driver and passenger are standard equipment. In addition, front side airbags and curtain airbags covering all three rows of seats give extra protection against side impacts.

The high rigidity body contributes to both the impressive handling and the superbly smooth ride. The underbody features a rugged ladder frame along with enhanced rigidity in the upper body and around the wheelhouses, as well as pillars filled with foam to isolate noise and further contribute to the quiet cabin environment.

Mazda8 offer premium quality space. The low floor and long wheelbase layout gives everybody first-class rominess and comfort. High quality leather seats – including Super Relax Seats with extra legroom for the second row – are another touch of class.

The driver’s seat is eight-way power adjustable, the second row seats offer 80mm of slide adjustment to maximize legroom. Third row seats are generously sized and cushioned to provide relaxing support. Space under the second row seats offers room to stretch your legs, and the reclining mechanism and large armrest add to comfort.

Air conditioning is divided into three zones assuring total comfort wherever you sit. The air vents in the roof trim can be directed towards the left and right of the second and third rows, while cool air is also directed to the feet of passengers in the rear.

Mazda8 is the world’s first vehicle to be equipped with the nanoe ion system, widely acclaimed for its use in household appliances. Nanoe ions wrapped in water molecules have a powerful deodorizing, sterilizing, antibacterial, antifungal and antiallergenic action that effectively purifies cabin air, keeping it fresh and healthy. ‘Nanoe’ is a registered trademark of Panasonic Eletric Workcs Co., Ltd.

Power sliding doors on both sides opens wide in spite of the flared wheel arches that are a strong part of the exterior design. Just touching a switch or clicking a door handle is all that’s required to open up a wide space that gives easy entry and exit.

The power liftgate can be operated from the driver’s seat or the liftgate itself for total convenience. Safety is assured by sensors that detect obstructions during operation and immediately return the liftgate to the open position; the power sliding glass sunroof opens at the touch of a button to give you the special feeling of open air motoring.

First-class packaging features innovative versatility that makes Mazda8 the perfect companion for everything you do. The wide range of seating arrangements includes comfortable mode for six, full occupancy for eight, five occupants plus luggage, six occupants plus luggage, seven occupants plus luggage, and rear semi flat mode.

The 6:4 split third row features Mazda’s unique karakuri folding system. Simply pulling a strap on each seat causes the seat cushion to sink and the seatback to fold, opening up a large flat luggage area. The return mechanism is powered, so you can open the seats at the touch of a switch.

Even with the third row seats in place, you still have a capacious 357L (DIN) luggage capacity ample for two sets of golf clubs. In addition, a 349mm deep trunk under the floor offers maximum capacity of 109L for storage of everyday items regardless of seat configuration.

Mazda8 2.3L MPV, choice of seven sophisticated colours lets you express your take on the Mazda8?s personality. Colors available – Crystal White Pearl, Copper Red, Sparkling Black, Metropolitan Grey and Sunlight Silver.

    Car Of The Year 2008 – NST -

    KUALA LUMPUR: Mazda roared into the automotive limelight when its Mazda6 2.5-litre won the New Straits Times/Maybank “Overall Car of the Year 2008″ award. Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop (fourth from left) presenting the Automotive Man of the Year award to Proton Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir (right) yesterday. With them are (from left) New Straits Times Press group editor-in-chief Datuk Hishamuddin Aun, NSTP chief executive officer Datuk Anthony Firdauz Bujang, Maybank CEO Datuk Abdul Wahid Omar and NSTP chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Jawhar Hassan.  The Mazda6 also came out tops in the Executive Car (below RM200,000) category. Mazda added another feather to its cap when its roomy seven-seater, Mazda CX9, won the “Best in Class” in the Premium SUV category.Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, the managing director of Proton Holdings Bhd, was awarded the “Automotive Man of the Year 2008″ Award in recognition of his leadership in Proton and turning around an ailing domestic giant into a genuine global challenger.The winners of the New Straits Times/Maybank 2008 Awards were announced at a gala dinner in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, hosted by the New Straits Times and Maybank Bhd. The guest-of-honour for the night was Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop. Also present was Datuk Aishah Ahmad, president of the Automotive Association of Malaysia. The judging panel, comprising 12 senior Malaysian motoring journalists, unanimously agreed to award the coveted prize to Mazda6 for having a next to perfect balance between performance and comfort, two factors demanded by executive car buyers.

    This year also saw the addition of five Special Mention Awards.The winner of the Safety Award is the Jaguar XF, also the top choice in the Premium Executive Car (above RM200,000) category. One of its primary winning points is the pedestrian airbag that sets new standards for automotive safety. The Innovation Award went to Honda Civic Hybrid. It is the first hybrid vehicle in the market to spur a path towards a more environment-friendly automotive sector. The Volvo C30 received the Good Design Award for “leaving a lasting impression and emotional attachment, while having all the sophistication without the complications to the end-user”. Malaysia’s Top Selling Car 2006-2008 Award was won by Perodua Myvi, which saw sales of 277,993 units since its launch in 2005. (click here for more….)
