While we’ve already seen the new digs that Mazda has given its 2+2, rotary-powered RX-8 model at the Tokyo Auto Salon and Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, the car that’s always been shown up to this point has been the top shelf RS model. Perhaps you’re curious to know what a base RX-8 looks like without the big wheels and wings. Well, the updated RX-8 has gone on sale today in Japan, and Mazda has released new images that show the car without all that high-performance filigree. The larger air intakes up front remain, but gone are the deep chin spoiler, rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels. One of the lesser models known as the Type-E in Japan makes do with new standard 17-inch wheels (up from 16-inches). Mazda’s changes to the RX-8 are more than skin deep and nearly all will be featured on models sold in the U.S., as well.
For Malaysia, BERMAZ will be bring in this “Facelift” model this year (2008). Therefore it will comes with “Official Mazda Warranty” and services. This is the 1st time Mazda Distributor in Malaysia will carry this model in their model line up. So, u still wanna get a re-con RX-8 ? Um.. a friend of mine went to Times Square where there’s a Mazda exhibition on the new Mazda6. He asked about the current info on the new Mazda RX-8 facelifted and was surprised when the salesman told him in August.
That’s truly a great news. But according to him though.. the salesman told him it will only be in auto because there’s no market for manual in Malaysia. Is this true??
And what about the highest spec (Type RS)? Will it be in as well??
I’m eager to know this very much..

Yupe, RX-8 will be selling here officially later. Exact date & time, nobody knew. Unless it is just an estimation. But i will update my Blog once i get a “solid” information. About the manual or RS version to be bring it in or not, i dont think there is a problem because now BERMAZ had its own AP

As u can see, all RX-8 which is sold in Malaysia were all import by grey-importers. Officially it is not yet been sold by the authorized Mazda distributor before this. But now with BERMAZ is the main distributor, they are trying to import in this model to be sold here. Therefore, later after it is officially launch i will update with all the specs & pricing.

If u compare RX-8 Fuel Consumption with others sport car, it should be the same average. RX-8 fuel consumption are 12.9 litres per 100 km.
